Common Plumbing Services

Checking all of the taps in and around your house should be your first step. If some taps are dripping while others aren’t, there is likely a plumbing issue rather than an issue with the main water supply.
No water coming out of any of the faucets indicates a problem with the supply to your house. Inquiring with your neighbours is the easiest approach to learn more. It’s time to call your supplier if they don’t have running water either. You need to search a bit closer to home if they do have water.
The stopcock is the ideal location to begin. The stopcock is your home’s primary water valve, allowing water to pass through the pipes and into the faucets. It frequently appears near the kitchen sink and resembles a tap without a spout.
If the stopcock is closed, no water will flow into your property. The water will start flowing again once you open the valve by turning it anticlockwise. If the stopcock was already open, there must be a plumbing problem somewhere.
A leak is one potential reason. You should stop the flow of water as soon as you notice a leak. A plumber will subsequently be required to mend the broken pipe.
One or more pipes may have frozen if your water stopped flowing after a spell of chilly temperatures. The condensate pipe, which transports waste water from your boiler outside of your home, is the one that is most prone to freeze. If it freezes, a blockage results, causing your boiler to shut off. Pouring warm water over the frozen portion of the pipe can help it to thaw out.
Over five gallons of water a day might be lost by a dripping tap. As a result, if you do nothing, your water expenses will increase quickly. Key components like the washer, valve, or rubber seals wearing out are frequent culprits. And it’ll probably be necessary to replace them.
The washer wears out the majority of the time. The washer rises when a tap is turned on, allowing water to flow from the faucet. When you turn the tap off again, it prevents water from escaping.

A toilet that won’t flush is a common plumbing problem.

The fill valve needs to be replaced
The water supply from the mains is connected to the toilet tank through the fill valve. Changing the flapper
With each flush, water is released from the tank and into the bowl via a flapper. Increasing the float ball’s height
A float ball may be found in many toilet tanks. This floating object is a plastic balloon that is fastened to the end of a float arm.
Once the float ball has risen to a predetermined height, a flushing toilet that is operating correctly will stop. The toilet will continue to run if the float arm is too low or if something is preventing the ball from rising.
Lift the float arm to see whether this is the problem. If the flushing stops, you’ve identified the problem. The float ball can have a crack, which would cause it to soak in water. If so, you will require a new float ball.
Reducing the length of the refill tube
The refill tube’s duty is to replenish the toilet after flushing by sending water down the overflow tube. It’s a little bendy tube attached to the fill valve and hanging over the overflow tube.
If it is not correctly positioned over the overflow tube, your toilet will continue to run. This might be due to one of two factors. Either the refill tube has shifted slightly and has to be repositioned, or it is too long. If it’s too long, simply cut the end so it drapes exactly over the overflow tube.
